There is no doubt that in some instances you may find that you have pets in school. While you may have all the best intentions, it is important to take some precautions so that your school is as safe as possible. That explains why you will find that some schools such as catholiccare preschool has taken all the precautions making it very safe. Luckily, creating a friendly environment is not as complicated as it has been perceived. It just starts with the small things and you are set. Some of the things you can do to ensure you have a pet-friendly school include:
Have the right pets
If it is pets owned by the school, they should be the right type especially if they are not contained. Different dogs have different personalities and temperament and it is important you choose the right type so that they are not a hazard to kids when they come to school. If the dogs don’t have a friendly personality then be sure to contain them so that they don’t interfere with the daily operations of the school.
Have the right flooring
The bad thing about pets is that they can be a source of allergy especially their fur. That means that you should choose hypoallergenic floors. Some flooring such as carpets is great at attracting and harboring mites and fur. There are however some that are more friendly such as stone tiles and laminates. It is also important to note that pets can be destructive on the floors due to scratching hence you should look for a floor that is scratch resistant. As much as the comfort of the kids is important, the comfort of the dog is important too hence you should try and create a balance.
Observe the hygiene
Since the pets are in school and kids are sensitive, the hygienic standards of the pets must be observed. They should be cleaned from time to time to prevent flies. They should also be trained well on looking after themselves. Once they are potty trained then you can be sure that they will not litter everywhere.
Train them right
It is important that dogs are as disciplined as possible and that depends on the kind of training they get. They should be quick when it comes to taking commands and should know how to behave when they are in an environment with kids. Know when its time to play and when it is not. That will make managing them much easier.
Create a secluded area for them
Not all parents will buy the idea of having pets in a school so it is only safe if you can seclude them in a certain area. That will also make sure that they don’t by any chance interfere with the learning of the kids. Once they are in their area, they can be free to play or do whatever without getting in your way. It is also safe for them as some kids are rough.
